Politicians, like diapers,
need to be changed regularly,
and for the same reason.
Politicians like hand-written letters.
They take them more seriously than a type-written letter, and far more seriously than emails. They view a hand-written letter as taking more time and effort.
After all, anyone can be pissed off in the moment and fire off an email. But to take the time to compose a hand-written letter shows far more commitment and concern.
I compose my letters on the computer first, simply because I write better that way. Your mileage may vary. Once the letter is composed to my satisfaction and checked for spelling errors (aren't computers great!) I write it out by hand, make photocopies for any cc's I have, and stuff them in envelopes.
Most important: Hand-write the addresses on the envelopes. That old adage about first impresses is true here too. Make your commitment and concern work for you. Hand-write the mailing address and your return address.
I also fax a copy directly to each individual. You may not feel this is necessary. I'm not even sure I do. But I like to make sure my politicians get my letters. But I digress...
